Wouldn’t it be great to have your business appear in a huge box in Google search results? Currently you can type different questions and get results very similar to what is seen below. In this example I Google searched; ‘what is a flow meter‘. (Please note that results may vary since Google is constantly updating its algorithm)

If you click the ‘Feedback tab, Google wants to collect ‘your feedback’ for the result. And if you click on the ‘About this result’ tab, Google will take you to a page about Featured snippets. You might wonder why Google is using so much space to display these results. The answer is simple. Google Home or Google Home Assistant.

Most of you have already experienced a closed voice response Eco system when responding to a ‘voice-assistant ‘on the phone, though most experiences are less than favorable. This is what Google wants to avoid.
Google Q&A testing is going to be around for a long time so take advantage of this new search result algorithm bonanza in your website.

How to Prepare Your Website for Google Home Assistance

1. Do research using multiple search terms to determine what Google is looking for.
2. Identify high value key phrases for your Q&A pages.
3. Set up individual Q&A pages using ‘Structured-data’ when applicable.
4. Do one-to-one tests manual tests each week to determine if Google is finding your pages.

You cannot force or influence Google to display your website information in the box format. Google programmatically determines that a page contains a likely answer to the user’s question, and displays the result as a featured snippet. However you can take steps to get Google’s attention and for this kind of exposure, it is definitely worth the effort.
