Visual on-page
Branding
Here are a few simple things you can do
to help call attention to your listings on search engine pages.
In this short article we are going to take a close look at
the web page 'title-tag' and 'description tag'.
First, try this experiment.
In Google search for ‘Virginia web design companies’
or any variation.
You will most likely see my company as displayed
below.
On Google my search listing looks like this;
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Virginia Web Design Company, Virginia Beach Web Design | VISIONEFX
Top-notch custom website design solutions for business. Virginia
website designers producing custom websites, ecommerce websites
& custom.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Any thing that exceeds 66 characters including spaces
will look like this;
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Virginia Web Design | Small Business
Web Design | Lynchburg Web ...
Virginia Web Designer offers affordable web design solutions
for small businesses and individuals. Serving Lynchburg, VA
and the entire US.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
See the dots (…)?
This is my homepage title meta tag.
<title>Virginia Web Design Company,
Virginia Beach Web Design | VISIONEFX</title>
( 66 characters)
Notice that I use ALL CAPS for added
visualization in search results. People see VISIONEFX at the
end of my title tag. This is called (visual on-page branding).
Forming your title tag in this way helps to call more attention
to your website listing within the search page itself. This
helps you to stand out in the crowd.

Also pay close attention to your ‘description
tag’.
This is the text description that appears
directly beneath your title tag. Keep your description tag,
brief and to the point. Just a couple of sentences will do.
Here is my description tag;
<meta name="description" content=Top-notch
custom website design solutions for business. Virginia website
designers producing custom websites, ecommerce sites &
database”>
N O T E:
Every page in your website is an
opportunity to tell the search engines what your website is
about!
This means that you should have a unique title tag
and description tag for every page in your website.
