Some ways to
make or break your website
by Florie Lyn Masarate
Professional appearance. Most sites do not really need flashes
or amazing visuals just for the sake of using them like all
the others are doing. Your site should be something that everyone
will perceive as a legitimate and professional site. Built by
someone who cares about appearance and content. Colors and graphics
should blend well with all the other factors. No grammar or
spelling mistakes. The images used should enhance rather than
distract.
Proper navigation. The pages should be well connected. Every
section should connect to the main page that has a clear and
concise menu. Do not make your visitors spend more time looking
for the section they need. Try to help them. Guide them al
throughout with your easy navigation. Be consistent.
An understandable theme. The index page should initially
let the visitors know what your site is about. Briefly describe
the purpose of your site using photos to help them better
understand you.
Logo. One of the best ways to brand your business is by using
a unique logo. By using a logo, your site will have an impression
to the visitors and be developed from there. The logo should
be consistent with the theme and the colors of your websites.
Frequently Asked Questions. Sometimes visitors will have
questions that are not covered in the pages or in the descriptions.
Therefore, there should be a section devoted to answering
some common questions that may be asked. This will make the
customer choose your site because answers to their questions
are easily answered.
What's new section. Repeat visitors would want to be updated
on the current news and promotions that you are offering.
This is the section to inform them about what is going on
lately to let them know what they have been missing and what
to expect.
Contact information. This is one of the common yet important
things that web sites owners often forget. Visitors would
eventually have some things to ask you about and they would
want to know where they can reach you. This is also an assurance
that there is really a person behind the website.
Feedback section. With the changes going on everyday, it
is given that you should know what your customers need. So
it is important to solicit a feedback from there and let them
do the talking. Have a feedback form on the site and include
questions that can help improve the quality of your online
business.
Make your site by not breaking them. Work some things to
your advantage.
