How
to Get Websites Seen on the First Page of Google
Below is an explanation and visual demonstration
for successful methods used to get found over search engines
by having 'product specific search' and/or 'product-city'
specific pages deployed in a website.
1. A quick look at O n L i n e Signs reveals
that part of their Internet strategy is having web pages optimized
for specific searches and localities.
In snap A. below we searched 'vinyl
banners chesapeake'. In the top 10 results, 1st position we
found O n L i n e Signs. This particular web page has meta-data,
on-page text and file named for 'product-city.htm' to increase
chances for a localized search on Google.
We also found 1,110 pages for this website
in the Google search engine database. This immediately tells
us there are many more pages using the same strategy for many
other cities and states. This is a very effective and smart
approach. (See snaps B and C. below)

Some websites use a different (but related)
method. They create many individual web pages for specific
products and have general knowledge-base web pages to generate
more search engine results and leads.

All the methods mentioned here speak to
the mantra 'content is king'. Remember that every page in
your website is an opportunity to tell search engines what
you are about.
Appearing in search engines whether you
are looking for local, regional or national placement falls
into '3' task level categories.
Easy, Moderate and Difficult described
below.
Easy
In simplest terms; if you are selling 'diamond studded bedroom
slippers' and have this text is contained in your website
meta-data and on-page, chances are extremely good that you
will appear in the Google top 10 results for this unique search
term.
That's easy.
Moderate
Thousands of small businesses fall into this category. Let's
take a look at one such business: 'local contractors'.
If a contractor wants to appear in the Google
top 10 for the search query 'custom sunrooms chesapeake',
the contractor will find many competitors for this search
term thus requiring some of the strategies mentioned above
to place their website in the top 10 results.
3 out of 10 results for this search term shows our website
clients, JM Froehler, Coastal Additions and The Walters Company.
Difficult
A good example of a difficult search term would be 'real estate
for sale virginia beach'. In the Hampton Roads area there
are literally thousands of licensed real estate professionals
going after the same search term on their websites. Then lump-on
broker websites, brokerage company websites, properties management
companies, real estate attorneys, mortgage companies and huge
real estate directories such as Homes.com, Realtor.com, Truila.com,
Zillow.com, Yahoo Real Estate, Hampton Roads real estate and
many other mega directories.
It takes a multi-pronged strategy call 'Off-Site
Optimization; to appear for highly competitive search terms
to include; Back linking, leveraging digital assets and content
broadcasting.
1 out of 10 results for this search term brings up our website
client, Perfecthouse, 1st page position #2 above many mega-websites.
